The Role

  • Fixed Term (up to 5 years), Full Time
  • Remuneration package in the range of AU$179,586 to AU$224,482 p.a.
  • Wagga Wagga (relocation allowance provided)

This is a senior leadership appointment that requires both academic credibility & ability to guide strategic direction. The role needs a leader with vision & commitment to promoting excellence in learning & teaching, research & enterprise.

The Head of School sets the strategic direction as well as leads the management of academic activities, operations, people, finances & resources to deliver a high-quality academic student experience & to achieve the objectives of the School. The Head of School makes a significant contribution to Faculty leadership & contributes to achieving the objectives of the Faculty & University.

The Head of School promotes the University's links with the community, industry & professions to enhance the School's teaching & research programs.

To be successful you will have:

  • A PhD or equivalent qualification & standing in agricultural sciences;
  • A strong research profile & record of academic achievement of national &/or international standing through distinguished contributions in a discipline relevant to agricultural sciences;
  • Demonstrated high-level managerial proficiency, including experience in academic management with leadership, strategic planning, financial, human resources, & decision-making skills required for the effective management of a multidisciplinary program in the field of agriculture;
  • Proven strong links with partner organisations & industry & the communication skills & ability to represent the university in the wider community;
  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience in curriculum development & implementation as well as a commitment to the facilitation of culturally respectful & innovative teaching in agricultural sciences; AND
  • Demonstrated strategic vision & capacity to promote the development of a culture of excellence in agricultural sciences education & research.

The School of Agricultural and Wine Sciences teaching and research activities are conducted at the Orange and Wagga Wagga campuses. Programmes offered include agricultural business management, agricultural science, horticulture, wine science, viticulture, and applied science. The School also offers PhD supervision over a wide range of disciplines.

The School has a significant research profile with close linkages to CSU Research Centres, including the Graham Centre for Agricultural Innovation, The National Wine and Grape Industry Centre, and the Institute for Land, Water and Society. School staff collaborate with external partners in education and research, especially NSW Department of Primary Industry, CSIRO, leading national and international universities, and TAFE sector institutions. Active international linkages in around 20 countries enhance the education and research programs.
