Lead the team protecting and preserving the Northern Territory’s precious water resources.

The Department of Environment Parks and Water Planning Branch is responsible for developing Water Allocation Plans to manage the long term development of water resources in the Northern Territory in consultation with Stakeholders.

As a Senior Water Planner you provide expert advice and direction to ensure the sustainable use of the Territory’s water resources in accordance with the Water Act 1992; develop, review and implement water allocation plans and apply advanced analytical skills balancing the retention of water to maintain and preserve environmental and cultural values. Well-developed cultural thinking and effective communication skills are essential to support the delivery of the National Water Initiative and the implementation of water engagement activities.

To be successful, you require extensive experience in the management and delivery of natural resources planning; ability to analyse complex hydrological and hydrogeological data and information, and a working knowledge of the National Water Initiative and industry best practice. Strong organisational skills and a proven ability to effectively plan, work independently and deliver to statutory timeframes is essential.
