Senior Ranger  

 

Location: Dalby or Toowoomba 
Remuneration: $96,365 - $104,518 p.a. 
Permanent, Full-time, $96365 - $104518 (yearly) - leave, superannuation, allowances, overtime and penalty rate benefits. 

The Opportunity: 

The successful applicant will oversee park management programs, prepare correspondence such as briefing notes, report on programs and budgets, and  oversee the preparation and management of contracts. The management of fire,  both planned and wildfire, is a key focus area. Excellent communication and team skills are a requirement of this position, including the ability to liaise with a wide range of internal and external clients including First Nations groups, to ensure operational programs are successfully implemented.  

You'll need to be able to: 

  • Effectively lead and manage a geographically dispersed team including setting priorities, allocating resources, monitoring outcomes, developing local strategies, procedures and practices. 
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders including neighbouring landholders, other government departments, industry groups, commercial operators, recreational user groups, and traditional owners. 
  • Provide information, advice, and education to the public, industry, and other key stakeholders to promote the conservation of protected areas and use of national parks, forests and marine parks. 
  • Plan and manage emergency response, critical incidents, compliance and enforcement operations and ensure all staff are appropriately trained in their application. 
  • Plan recovery of areas after natural disaster events, manage relevant agency investigations, resource allocation and emerging issues. 
  • Deliver and report on annual work schedules and budgets for recreational and infrastructure development (including fire management, wildlife management, capital works, strategic asset maintenance and pest management programs).
  • Plan, develop and oversee infrastructure development and maintenance projects. 
  • Participate in agency planning and management processes and provide technical research and input into programs and projects.
  • Prepare complex correspondence including ministerial documents and briefings for decision by senior officers.
  • Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.
