This role is part of our regional Onshore Wind Energy business, which covers Australia, New Zealand, North Asia and South East Asia. You may be required to travel domestically with some international travel in the ASEAN region too.

About the Role

As a Commercial Leader, you will develop commercial positions, internally and with our customers, that facilitate closing profitable and executable orders for the supply, installation and long-term operation of wind turbines and associated equipment on wind farm projects. This role has a focus on the Australian market, although it will also support developing markets within the wider regional business from time to time.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Develop winning strategies to close profitable and executable orders for the highly competitive Onshore Wind segment of the Renewables Business.
  • Mobilise and lead multifunctional and global support teams to implement transaction strategy on complex, multi-million dollar transactions. Internal functions coordinated in this process include Application Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Finance, Legal, EHS, Project Delivery and Service.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of firm bids, contract negotiations, and finalisation of contract documentation to achieve financial close and order intake.
  • Manage handover from Proposals phase (up to order commitment) to Project Delivery phase (fulfillment of project order), including coordination of EPC project bidding and delivery consortia comprising GE and balance of plant construction contractors. 
  • Provide commercial support to the Renewables Sales team for budgetary proposals and studies during opportunity development.
  • Provide technical, profitability, and commercial inputs to support the Risk Management processes for transactions.

About You

As a Commercial Leader, you will have significant experience in the commercial aspects of bid preparation/management and contract negotiation for turnkey (EPC) or similar scope power plant projects, ideally in wind energy.

Alongside your commercial acumen, you will ideally have in depth experience in the project management and execution of thermal or renewable power plant projects, including an understanding of construction & operational issues associated with these types of projects.

In addition, you will be a highly motivated team player, self-starter with strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, who can perform effectively in a non-hierarchical, team type environment. A passion for the industry and attention to detail will enable you to excel in this position.

You will hold a degree qualification in Engineering, Law or a relevant commercial discipline.  Postgraduate degree in addition is preferred, for example MBA, and experience in customer relationship management, order process management and use of risk management/compliance systems would be highly regarded.
