Catchment Protection Officer (Mining)

  • Part Time Role - 24 hours per week, 8 hours per day
  • Flexible on work location, however travel to sites will be required.
  • 6 Month Contract
  • Paying up to $716.37 + super per day

About the Role

Our client are a very well established NSW Government statutory corporation who are responsible for supplying the state’s bulk water needs, operating the state’s river systems and dams, and the bulk water supply system for Greater Sydney. They are now in need of a highly experienced Catchment Protection Officer to come in and assist them on a 6 month contract.

As a Catchment Protection Manager, you will provide specialist mining and environmental management advice and direction to, and manage issues arising in relation to activities associated with mining and coal seam gas developments and operations within special areas, declared catchment areas, or in the vicinity of assets to mitigate risks.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure all activities are undertaken with the safety of our people as the number one priority and always role model safe behavior.
  • Provide expert advice on mining and coal seam gas related activities to ensure that the impacts on special areas, assets and operations are minimised.
  • Prepare reports, briefs, policies and communications on mining and coal seam gas issues to ensure that the proper course of action/decisions can be taken
  • Advise on the potential impact of mining and geotechnical matters to ensure appropriate protective and mitigation measures
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures relating to mining matters
  • Coordinate information, communication and discussions with external stakeholders

Please note that this is a part time role where you will work 24 hours per week, and 8 hours per day. Preferred days are Monday, Thursday, and Friday, but there could be flexibility.

About You

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Planning/Engineering/ Science/Assessment/Management/Law or other relevant discipline.
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of government policies and regulatory frameworks, with particular emphasis on mining and environmental management.
  • Knowledge and experience in the assessment and verification of mining-related data and impacts.
