About the role

Passionate about nature and marine life and eager to make a real impact? Look no further! Parks Victoria is actively seeking a Marine Diving and Monitoring Officer based in Morwell. You will have the opportunity to explore Victoria's most breathtaking marine natural parks. Your primary responsibility will be overseeing all snorkelling and diving activities carried out by Parks Victoria, ensuring strict adherence to safe diving and snorkelling practices by staff. You will be part of the Environment and Science directorate, collaborate closely with regional staff to lead and supervise diving and monitoring initiatives. You will provide clear leadership and communication to ensure diving activities are conducted safely and in accordance with Parks Victoria's dive and safety procedures. We're looking for someone with:

  • Advanced qualifications in leading SCUBA diving operations - Commercial Diver, Dive Instructor or Scientific Diver
  • Advanced boating qualifications and experience - Master Mariner or Coxswain Open Waters licenses
  • Substantial demonstrated experience in the management of snorkelling and diving operations including relevant level of knowledge of regulations and procedures relating to diving operations
  • Experience in planning, delivery, and reporting of marine monitoring programs is desirable
  • Current Certificate in Workplace First Aid, CPR, and Oxygen First Aid (or ability to obtain)
  • Extensive diving experience across the range of competencies applicable to Parks Victoria diving operations

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Ability to demonstrated experience in leadership
  • Previous experience in diving minimum 100 dives
  • Ability to pass an occupational dive medical
