Manager Engineering, Strategy and Assets &

Manager Open Space, Recreation and Property

This is an exciting time to be joining the City of Burnside following a recent review of the Urban Services division and appointment of our dynamic and motivated new General Manager, Urban Services. To help support the General Manager and to accelerate this journey we are now looking to appoint two leaders of people, process, change, fun, customer service and key stakeholder engagement to join the team.

Manager Engineering, Strategy and Assets (ref no 08/15)

This position will drive strategy across all engineering and infrastructure assets with a strong ability to lead teams and uphold an efficient and effective technical and strategic direction. The successful candidate requires a solid understanding of Infrastructure Asset Planning, Traffic Management, Civil Projects and Environmental Engineering with a proven success in developing comprehensive Policy and Strategy. An ability to develop and motivate a team of professionals is essential as is a broad understanding of the provision of technical expertise and environmental plans and practices in line with community related objectives.

Manager Open Space, Recreation and Property (ref no.09/15)

This position will lead the teams that comprise of Urban & Asset Projects, Open Space, Recreation & Environment and Property to deliver Councils Strategic Asset Management Plan whilst leading high calibre teams in the effective planning, development, coordination, project management and supervision of Council’s open space, recreation and environment projects. An ability to develop and motivate a team of professionals is essential whilst ensuring the effective management of these community related initiatives are completed within budgets and time restraints.   

In addition to the above criteria for these roles, we are seeking strategic and innovative thinkers, who can juggle multiple balls at one time, possess strong communication skills including the ability to write complex reports which are easily understood along with interpersonal and stakeholder management skills. Your previous experience will equip you to be highly attuned to public perception and politically astute with a well-developed understanding of community expectations.

Your leadership experience will be supported by tertiary qualifications, further learning or extensive management experience at a senior level. These positions are offered as a 5-year contract and a remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicants based on qualifications and experience.
