Job Description

You have:

  • Experience managing a range of communication activities such as social media accounts and campaigns to enhance communication and consultation with stakeholders and communities.
  • Ability to identify potential stories, writing and working collaboratively with the Sustainable Environment and Waste Strategy and Engagement teams.
  • Ability to support the Sustainable Environment and Waste Strategy and Engagement teams to deliver internal communications, community education and behaviour change initiatives.
  • Ability to build positive media relations and generate positive publicity for Stonnington activities, projects and events
  • You will also provide communications to key external and internal stakeholders on Council’s waste, resource recovery, sustainability and climate action projects, activities and services.

This is a permanent full time position with an annual salary range of $92,922 - $100,635 per annum + 11 % superannuation.

We come together at least 3 days a week so we can collaborate in our vibrant office culture.

When on-site you will enjoy modern and sustainable facilities and office spaces.  You are based within our bright, modern and sustainable 311 Glenferrie Road office on the corner of High Street and Glenferrie Road in Malvern where boutique stores, cafes and health clubs are in abundance. From the office you can easily walk to Malvern Gardens, High Street Armadale or Glenferrie Road. Malvern and Armadale Train Station are a short walk away and tram stops are out the front of the building.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • A passion and demonstrated track record of effectively engaging communities on waste, resource recovery, sustainability and climate action.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to develop and delivery engaging content for different audiences across a range of channels.
  • An enthusiastic, proactive and creative mindset and be able to positively contribute to Council’s Communications, Sustainable Environment and Waste Strategy and Engagement teams.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and positively contribute to the team.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and with exceptional time management skills.
  • Relevant qualifications in the areas of communications, public relations, publications and/or media are desirable with some relevant experience.
  • Experience with behaviour change marketing is highly desirable
