Who are we?

The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) has the public responsibility of managing one of the largest and the most successful stadiums in Australia and the world - the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The MCG is more than just a stadium, it's an Australian icon and a meeting place for generations past, present and future.

In order to remain at the forefront as Australia's leading arena, a rare opportunity has arisen to join our Arenas Team at the Melbourne Cricket Club, in the role of Executive Manager Turf. This team is responsible for ensuring that all playing surfaces managed by the MCC are operationally ready for each event held. Which include the MCG, Albert Ground, Hawthorn & Glen Street Bowls Club and Beaumaris Secondary College.

About the role
Reporting to the General Manager - Facilities, the role is responsible for key elements including:

  • Leading and developing the MCC Arenas team and Outside Venues;
  • Ensuring the turf and pitch operations at the MCG and its other venues are prepared for use to the highest national and international standards;
  • Strategic oversight and expertise in worldwide turf development, and
  • Preparation of board reports and key stakeholder engagement both internally and externally

About You
We are looking for a collaborative leader who leads by example and can build relationships at all levels including working with the executive team.

Essential experience & skills include:

  • Proven leadership of a large and diversely located team;
  • Strong experience in managing research and development projects in this field, coupled with expertise in soil, irrigation and plant health at a strategic level, and
  • Turf Specialist that ideally has a Tertiary qualifications in Turf/Horticulture Management

Please note given the nature of this role, flexibility is a requirement as it includes working a number of event days, after business hours, weekends and public holidays each year.
