The Victorian Government has received a scathing report from Environment Victoria in an audit of the government's green credentials. The audit measured the delivery of government's election promises on the environment and also assessed significant actions taken that were not foreshadowed prior to the election.

 

All in all the audit, entitled found that of the 57 environmental policy commitments of significance made ahead of the election:

  • 5 commitments have been delivered in full
  • 17 commitments have been partially delivered
  • 17 commitments have not yet been delivered
  • 15 commitments represent a backwards step for the environment
  • 3 promises that were made have been broken.

 

Additionally there have been 11 significant actions taken with environmental consequences which were not part of the Coalition’s election platformOf these:

 

  • 8 are considered a backwards step for the environment
  • 3 are considered a backwards step for the environment
