The CEO of Sustainable Business Australia (formerly Environment Business Australia), Fiona Wain, has stepped down from the position after 12 years due to ill health.

Andrew Petersen, the former Legal and Advisory Lead of PricewaterhouseCoopers Australia Sustainability and Climate Change practice,  has taken over as the new CEO.

New SBA CEO, Andrew Petersen said: "The time is right for a new conversation and engagement with Australian business on the agenda of sustainable development. Transformation, innovation and investment are needed to address growing population, demographic shifts, climate change as well as the increasing pressure on natural resources. After the Copenhagen Summit, there is considerable business uncertainty on the global governance around these critical issues.

"Building on the work of our former CEO, SBA will be focusing on building, promoting and expanding the capacity of Australia’s business contribution to the sustainable development agenda.”

This focus will:

  • Promote policy development to enable the right framework settings for Australian business enterprise to make an effective contribution to sustainable human progress and prosperity;
  • Advocate the business case for sustainable development;
  • Highlight the Australian business contribution to sustainable development solutions.
