Sustainability Project Lead

About the role:

Australian dairy promises to provide nutritious food for a healthier world. To do this, we have made a number of sustainability commitments to the community, our people, the environment and our animals.

Our internationally recognised Sustainability Framework (ADSF) is our guide to sustainable dairy production, with goals and targets set for 2030, confirming our ambition to continue to make changes for the better. See https://www.dairy.com.au/sustainability/australian-dairy-sustainability-framework for more information on our Sustainability Framework, commitments and progress.

Our Sustainable Dairy team is looking for a key member to support the implementation of the framework by supporting the Sustainability Steering Committee (SSC) as the Sustainability Implementation lead.

The role will be a mix of project management, governance and secretariat support and stakeholder engagement. You will develop and foster strategic relationships with key industry stakeholders and ADSF members. These relationships and networks will assist the process of seeking out issues, activities and information that will contribute to informing and ensuring alignment of the Australian dairy industry and DA investments in the sustainability and policy areas.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provide strategic oversight of the administration, governance, and consultation processes of the ADIC Sustainability Framework, ensuring that it functions efficiently and effectively to help deliver dairy industry sustainability objectives.
  • Establish and manage appropriate consultation mechanisms and committee structures to support the ongoing growth of the ADIC Sustainability Framework
  • Play a vital role in the ongoing development and maintenance of stakeholder relationships. This includes fostering collaboration, building, and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Work with the DA Sustainability Commitment Managers, the Sustainability Steering Committee (SSC) members, Australian Dairy Farmers (ADF) and Australian Dairy Products Federation (ADPF) to develop and maintain a fit for purpose national consultation process for the sustainability program and policy development, including effective reference groups and taskforces.
  • Commissioning appropriate materiality reviews, ADSF reporting and other evidence to support the information and reporting requirements.

About you:

You will bring a strategic lens to ensuring that the Sustainability Framework (ADSF) delivers for the broader dairy industry and is supported and underpinned by strong governance and processes.

You will manage the day-to-day activities of the ADSF and undertake multiple project activities, ensuring that good practice project standards are implemented.

A team player, you work effectively within a multiskilled team and value the opportunity to collaborate and learn through thought leadership and sharing of insights and recommendations.

Equally your excellent people and interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse range of influential people and organisations will be valued, allowing you to demonstrate awareness of the sustainability agenda and how this intersects across the dairy industry.
