Environment Manager (Fixed-Term)
Role Overview:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Environment Manager to join our team on a temporary basis for a period of up to 8 months.
As a Temporary Environment Manager, you will play a crucial role in leading our environmental initiatives and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. You will work closely with various departments to promote sustainable practices and reduce our ecological footprint. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for the environment and a proven track record in environmental management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the implementation of Darwin Port Environment Management systems support to Operations, Management & Project teams.
- Maintain understanding of Environmental Management regulatory requirements to develop and implement strategies, policies and procedures, programs, and governance reporting systems to maintain compliance.
- Lead the implementation, and continuous improvement of the Darwin Ports Sustainability Strategy, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and innovation.
- Support Darwin Port Biosecurity requirements; and work in collaboration with Darwin Port workgroups to identify and address risks and issues.
- Maintain the Inspection and Audit program, including preparation and facilitation of inspections, risk assessments and HSE system audits.
- Lead environmental incident investigations and support safety investigations as required.
- Evaluate third-party environmental reporting to identify key trends for action and provide reports to regulatory agencies and other stakeholders.
What you need:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental management, engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in environmental management, preferably in an industrial operating environment.
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and best practices.
- Ability to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
