Instrumentation and Controls Electricians

Ready to make a splash in your career? WaterNSW is seeking experienced Instrumentation & Controls Electricians (Full-time) to join our Greater Sydney Regional Operations team.

Two roles are required for the Fish River/Blue Mountains and Warragamba areas and one role required for the Upper Nepean and Shoalhaven areas.

The main role is to work on automation instrumentation and associated equipment, including design, purchasing, installation, fault-finding, calibration, maintenance, and monitoring of systems across our water monitoring and infrastructure sites.

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure the accurate and efficient implementation, configuration, and maintenance of field-based instrumentation and systems on a daily basis.
  • Develop strong working relationships with Team Leaders and other staff as a technical resource for internal customers. Work collaboratively and provide support as needed with peers in the Maintenance Engineering Team.
  • Delivery of instrumentation program; completion of renewals and maintenance activities and installation of new sites. Engage and coordinate contractors and staff in project works to conform to the relevant standards and ensure they are delivered in a cost-effective manner.
  • Identify and resolve equipment and system faults to minimise downtime for the Automation, Telemetry, and Communications Systems and associated assets, including monitoring systems and reporting on site performance.
  • Share specialist knowledge and technical expertise with staff and train them in the use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Capture and store data to provide data for management systems and other service systems.
  • Provide specialised technical advice and site-specific knowledge for planning, conceptualisation, testing, implementing and security of, Automation, Telemetry, and Communications systems to reduce implementation risks and optimise performance.
  • Provide specialist technical advice and audit works for compliance to Australian Standards, Regulations and WaterNSW standards.
  • Required to travel to remote sites by 4WD, boat, or helicopter and overnight stays.

What we are looking for:

  • Certificate III in Electro-technology Electrician.
  • SCADA, Automation, and Communications Technologies.
  • Qualified Supervisor Certificate – Electrical.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the maintenance of water infrastructure.
  • Ability to undertake field operations and maintenance activities involving instrumentation and controls equipment and associated electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Proven ability to find/rectify faults and maintain automation systems from SCADA server to site instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the operation and maintenance of Instrumentation and Control systems.
  • A current NSW Driver’s License.
