Environment Advisor

About this opportunity

Reporting to the Principal Advisor, Sustainability & Environment, the role includes:

  • Working across the business to enhance the environmental compliance and outcomes of the tram network
  • Providing support to the Principal Advisor, Sustainability & Environment in activities required to mitigate business risk from environmental matters and support environmental actions and initiatives
  • Schedule and conduct regular targeted site environmental audits and assurance activities
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve the environmental compliance of site facilities
  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement opportunities of Yarra Trams' certified Environmental Management System
  • Assist with the development and implementation of environmental procedures
  • Support the collection and monitoring of non-financial environment data, and prepare environmental reporting
  • Identify and make recommendations for environmental initiatives
  • Support employee engagement activities (such as general communications, toolbox talks and training)
  • Assist with environmental risk management activities.

About you

Ideally you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline
  • 1-3 years' experience in an environmental role or related capabilities
  • A genuine commitment and passion for environmental compliance, with high levels of enthusiasm and drive to achieve results
  • Experience in the development of procedures and processes
  • Demonstrated ability to develop credibility and trust with internal stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to translate quantitative data into qualitative messages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail
