EnviroCom Australia (EnviroCom) is an environmental consultancy and operates as an independent division of JJs Waste and Recycling. EnviroCom has provided effective and innovative behaviour change, research, and education services to the public and private sectors since 1998 and is highly regarded within the industry and by our clients. EnviroCom’s services focus on generating positive behaviours to promote and support environmental sustainability in the communities in which we work.

About you

We are looking for a Graduate Environmental Consultant for our offices in Dandenong (VIC) and in Orange (NSW) to assist in the development and delivery of a range of behaviour change projects to improve sustainability outcomes, primarily in waste management, through improved individual and community actions and engagement. There may also be a Graduate Environmental Consultant  position available in Hume (ACT) for the right candidate.

The Graduate Environmental Consultant position is offered within EnviroCom’s Graduate Program. This provides up to 12-months of on-job training and is specifically designed to support and mentor graduates in EnviroCom’s key service areas resulting in capable and well-rounded individuals that can transition into Environmental Consultant roles with EnviroCom on completion.

Our ideal candidate will be an environmentally and creatively minded individual, who wishes to participate in all aspects of the consultancy’s services. The candidate would also have a focus on time management, excellent attention to detail and enjoy working in a small but high-energy team environment while being a proactive participant in their own learning and development.

The role will include:

  • Input into the design of strategic behaviour change programs and services
  • Delivery of education and engagement interventions to a range of stakeholders
  • Desktop research, fieldwork data gathering, analysis and reporting

A Graduate Environmental Consultant will have:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in a sustainability or environmental field, with a demonstrated interest in community education, behaviour change and communication.
  2. Knowledge, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge, of environmental and sustainability issues, particularly within the field of waste management.
  3. Willingness to engage in physical research projects including waste segregation assessments, bin inspection programs and educational intervention programs.
  4. Demonstrated high level written communication skills. This includes skills in drafting, self-editing and editing the work of others across a range of written formats.
  5. Confidence in verbal communication skills, including student and community presentations, client engagement, public speaking and internal communications.
  6. High level computer literacy, including analysis and presentation of technical data.
  7. The ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and engage with a range of stakeholders.
  8. Class C drivers licence.

EnviroCom is a national organisation with offices in Brisbane and Birtinya (QLD), Sydney and Orange (NSW), Dandenong (VIC) and Hume (ACT) which may result in periods of intra and interstate travel from time to time.
