Banyule City Council has an unique opportunity for a passionate Environmentally Sustainable Development Adviser to join the Development Planning team.

 

The Planning and Building portfolio aligns planning delivery with building services.  The portfolio includes Banyule’s Statutory Planning Team including subdivision and planning enforcement and Building Services which includes Council’s Municipal Building Surveyor and enforcement functions as well a commercial Building Permit Service (Banyule BPi).

 

About the role:

The role will suit an experienced Environmentally Sustainable Development practitioner, who is passionate about improving the technical capacity of the Development Planning team to implement environmentally sustainable development in planning outcomes and achieving Council's carbon reduction ambitions. You will provide ongoing training programs to up skill the Development Planning team, undertake spot audits, develop a compliance framework for built outcomes and represent Banyule and the team on forums & committees.

 

Requirements:

  • Authentic passion for leading sustainable practices within the planning and development area
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline
  • Knowledge in the development and implementation of environmental strategies, policies and programs 
  • Knowledge in application of built environment legislation, guidelines and rating tools
  • Written and oral communication skills and the ability to present and negotiate
  • A current Drivers Licence and COVID 19 vaccination certificate
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft office suite and industry related software

Benefits:

  • Salary range $99,898.26 to $107,555.85 pro rata plus super
  • Part time 32 hours per week (will consider reduced hours and job share)
  • Temporary parental leave contract October 2022 to October 2023
