Who we are:
Rombola Family Farms is a large scale, progressive, privately owned horticultural business based 20kms North of Griffith, NSW. The company operates counter-seasonal operations in Mataranka (Northern Territory), and in Bundaberg (Queensland), allowing us to supply our melons and pumpkins to our customers year-round.
Rombola Family Farms encompasses over 4,000 hectares of intensive irrigated horticultural production at Griffith (NSW), Bundaberg (QLD) and Mataranka (NT). Agricultural enterprises include Seedless Watermelon, Rockmelons, Broccoli, Pumpkin, Almonds and Winegrapes. Operations include primary production, processing, value adding and marketing.
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Head of People and Culture responsible for leading our human resource team with a focus on talent acquisition and retention, WHS and employee relations. This role will collaborate with all departments, managers, and various stakeholders, both external and internal, to effectively manage the diverse workforce in our farms and facilities, implement HR best practices, and contribute to the success and well-being the workforce. This role reports to our Managing Director and is a key leader with extensive experience and knowledge to interpret HR policies and relevant legislation, advise on risk management, and coach and support managers in handling work health and safety, people management, industrial relations and change processes.

Key accountabilities include:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive people strategy aligned with our business goals.
- Drive initiatives that enhance employee engagement, retention, and performance.
- Collaborate with senior management to create a positive workplace culture.
- Oversee recruitment efforts across all locations, ensuring timely hiring of seasonal workers.
- Implement effective sourcing strategies to attract skilled and motivated individuals.
- Partner with line managers to assess staffing needs and optimize workforce planning.
- Design and deliver training programs to enhance skills and competencies.
- Foster a learning culture that encourages continuous development.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to your direct reports.
- Manage HR processes, including onboarding, performance management, and benefits administration.
- Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations.
- Lead the integration of the HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and reporting, ensuring the business is prepared for positive outcomes during audits and accurate data for reporting purposes.
- Lead and drive an effective Safety and Return to Work (RTW) framework and strategy.
- Represent our organization in industry forums, conferences, and community events.
- Build strong relationships with local communities and stakeholders.
- Promote our commitment to social responsibility and sustainability.
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a similar role of at least 5 years.
- Experience in managing large diverse seasonal workforces.
- Strong understanding of HRIS systems with the ability to leverage the system to provide timely reporting and accuracy of information.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with the ability to foster relationships at all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility in hours worked to achieve operational targets.
- A current driver’s licence.
