…will work collectively with the Research Director to lead our science staff in profitable, stakeholder-driven and strategy-led research. They will build a vital, science-driven innovation pipeline to meet current and future sector and societal needs.

Within this leadership cohort, the ARD – Capability will be accountable for ensuring our science capacity (both personnel and science-based infrastructure/equipment) is aligned to the current and future needs of AgResearch. Working closely with People & Culture, they will provide high-level direction setting and oversight of career progression opportunities, distinctive scientific expertise retention and growth, staff allocation/deployment and a culture shift to one of accountability, responsibility and heightened collaboration.

They will also oversee allocation of AgResearch’s Discovery Fund into science teams to generate early-stage, novel science and technology concepts that can feed our science engine and de-risk funding proposals and investment strategies.

We are seeking candidates with a strong background in science or technology management and extensive experience in similar leadership roles within research-based organisations where innovation and thought leadership is a strategic goal.
