About the Position

The position manages an allocated section of Project Managers and Construction Supervisors within Asset Solutions and is responsible for overseeing the delivery of approved water, sewerage and waste capital works projects to the specified scope, quality, budget and timeframe. The position provides core competencies of project specification, design management and project management within the Branch.

 

Key Deliverables of the position:

•Section management of a team of Project Managers and Construction Supervisors

•Oversee the successful delivery of allocated capital works through efficient and effective delivery planning, specification, design, construction, commissioning and handover activities

•Provide expert advice and develop core competencies of “design management” and ”project management” within the section including, review of engineering designs, constructability assessments, effective stakeholder engagement, procurement, tendering, contract documentation and management

•Build and maintain strategic partnerships with consultants, suppliers and contractors

•Ensure all project stakeholders are identified and adequately engaged during the relevant phases of project delivery

•In collaboration with Executive Coordinator Project Delivery and peer Coordinators, implement business improvement initiatives that materially contribute toward (but are not limited to):

Reduction  in contract variations

Improved quality of written documentation in Asset Solutions

Improved capital works expenditure performance

Improved value for money for the City of Gold Coast

•Provide project and program performance management and reporting

•Provide financial and human resource management and reporting in line with all statutory obligations, internal policies and legislation

•Manage purchasing and procurement functions in line with relevant policy and legislation

•Ensure the provisions of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 are adhered to in concert with the policies and regulations as laid down by the City

 

About You

For this role you will require:

•High level team leadership skills with the ability to foster good relationships, motivate and coach a multi-disciplinary team to meet and exceed client expectation and satisfaction

•Ability to deliver high quality service to customers

•A high level of interpersonal, negotiation, verbal and written communication skills including an ability to manage conflict

•Ability to plan and organise self and others to meet group objectives within deadlines

•Seeks all relevant facts, thinks laterally, prioritises problems, researches and evaluates information to identify causes and determine corrective action
