An exciting opportunity exists to make a significant contribution to the Northern Territory Livestock Biosecurity Program and work closely with government and industry stakeholders to support market access opportunities for the NT livestock Industries.

The responsibility

The position sets the strategic policy and legislation direction for the NT Livestock Biosecurity Program and undertakes the legislative functions of the NT Chief Veterinary Officer. The person will work closely with industry, provide high level policy advice to stakeholders and provide technical and legislative direction for an emergency livestock pest response.

The person

The person will be a suitably qualified veterinarian and have proven ability to lead and manage biosecurity programs, provide strategic policy advice and undertake legislative functions preferably with extensive livestock industry knowledge. The person will undertake the duties of the Chief Veterinary Officer and represent the NT at national livestock biosecurity forums.
