 Research Fellow (Wellbeing and Employability) - Future Drought Fund

Help enhance community wellbeing, career adaptability and employability as part of the Southern Queensland and Northern New South Wales (SQNNSW) Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub.

A flagship of the multi-billion-dollar Future Drought Fund, the SQNNSW Hub is one of eight national Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hubs. With an investment of $10 million from the Australian Government in the University of Southern Queensland led Hub over four years, and more than $10 million contribution from Partners, the Hub will be headquartered in Toowoomba with nodes in Stanthorpe, Roma, Longreach, Lismore, Armidale, and Narrabri.  

By working together, we can ensure the future growth and success of our regions and communities in the face of the ever-present threat of drought. Connecting research expertise and on-the-ground knowledge throughout the region, the Hub will improve community resilience and be a driver of co-designed and demand-driven drought resilience research, development, extension, adoption, and commercialisation (RDEA&C). 

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to be part of a significant project helping to build more resilient communities and healthy workforces in regional communities. Working with the SQNNSW Hub Knowledge Broker and the University’s Wellbeing team, as a Research Fellow (Wellbeing and Employability), you will play an integral role in providing tools that enhance wellbeing and enable more accessible professional support throughout the Hub region. This includes collaborating with stakeholders to develop online toolkits, targeted specifically to communities impacted by drought, and leading the delivery and evaluation of the wellbeing and employability toolkit.   

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• Completion of a PhD or professional doctorate (or equivalent standing) in a relevant discipline area such as a branch of psychology or social science.
• Teaching and research expertise in a relevant discipline.
• A proven track record in delivering engaged and reflective approaches to community education and teaching.
• Demonstrated experience in engaging in research, particularly in the development of related information or services for rural communities, wellbeing or employability, that provides collaborative opportunities, attracts funding to support research, advances knowledge and engages with industry.

With the option of being based at Toowoomba, Springfield or Ipswich, this position will be a full-time fixed term appointment until 31 December 2023.
