Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA) is a key economic development agency in the Government of South Australia. It’s key responsibility is to drive and enable the prosperity of the state's primary industries and regions. PIRSA’s priorities include oversight of the Government’s Premium Food and Wine activity and improving economic and social outcomes for regional South Australia through the Government’s Charter for Stronger Regional Policy.

Working closely with the Deputy Chief Executive PIRSA, the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, and industry stakeholder groups and associations, the opportunity now exists for an Executive Director, Fisheries and Aquaculture to contribute to the long-term and sustainable growth of SA’s fisheries and aquaculture industry.

This role has legislated responsibility, delegated by the Minister to administer the Fisheries Management Act 2007 and the Aquaculture Act 2001. The role is responsible for the development and delivery of organisational and state-wide goals, that align with the Strategic Plans of the state and PIRSA specifically. To provide sound leadership to the Fisheries and Aquaculture division, along with budget and policy management to a range of industry and Government stakeholders are also key fundamentals that will ensure success.

You will have a strong and current working knowledge of relevant legislation and government practice, and demonstrated your success in a similar role. As a leader with exemplary communication, stakeholder engagement, policy development skills and relevant tertiary qualifications, you must also have the ability to demonstrate your commitment to create and maintain a fair, inclusive and diverse working environment.
