The Parks and Waterways Branch provides leadership and direction in the management of the City’s parks and gardens, as well as other public open spaces both active and passive.  The Branch acts as the asset owner of the City’s parks assets and is responsible for life cycle asset management, including the development of the parks capital and renewal programs.  It manages the provision of open space maintenance services, designed to enhance the lifestyle of residents and contribute to the sustainability, resilience and sporting vitality of the City. 

The Position…

Currently we are looking for a Parks Asset Officer to join the Parks and Waterways Branch.

Reporting into Team Leader of Asset Management (Parks), the key objective of this position is to maintain the spatial and attribute data relating to parks assets in the corporate asset management and Geographical Information Systems (GIS).  Key accountabilities include assisting in the management and maintenance of the Parks Asset data in the City of Melbourne’s Integrated Asset Management System (AssetMaster) and GIS, (ArcGIS), ensuring assigned datasets are updated and reviewed, undertake audits of Parks assets to name just a few.

We are seeking an individual who has strong analytical skills and pro-actively identifies issues and resolves problems arising in the day to day operations and carrying out of functions.  Good interpersonal along with clear and concise communication skills (oral and written) including experience in report writing. We are after someone who will take ownership of tasks and deliver high quality service.

You will have…

• Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values –integrity, courage, accountability, respect and excellence
• A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Asset Management, Geomatics, Information Technology or equivalent relevant experience
• Experience in asset planning within a large service delivery organisation
• Experience in managing Asset Management Databases – knowledge of AssetMaster would be well regarded
• Demonstrated ability to operate GIS Applications - ArcGIS skills would be well regarded
• Good writing skills and ability to prepare written reports and submissions - Well-developed communication skills
• Ability to focus on detail and manage time efficiently and effectively.
