Senior Environmental Adviser

About the role

We're not just about removing – we're building, we're connecting, we're revitalising, and with the addition of 10 new level crossings to be removed the team at LXRP are busier than ever. That's why we are looking for a Senior Environmental Adviser to join our team.

The Senior Environmental Adviser is a critical role responsible for supporting and maintaining the LXRP Environment System. Reporting to the Manager, Environment, you will provide sound advice and leadership on environmental issues to support the delivery of successful project outcomes.

On a day-to-day basis you will be building and managing productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, as well as:

  • Coordinating the LXRP Environmental Assurance Program – this includes scheduling inspections and audits, ensuring compliance obligations are met, maintaining the LXRP incident and compliance register and supporting the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of all relevant legal, regulatory and organisation environmental requirements.
  • Supporting and coordinating the Planning and Environment Joint Coordination Committee in the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives and more.

The Senior Environmental Adviser position is a 3-year fixed term contract, paying between $102,637 and $124,183 + super. Whilst based in the Melbourne CBD, LXRP supports flexible and remote working options, with a hybrid working arrangement (weekly blend of office and remote working) envisioned for this role.

About you

We are looking for individuals who have a strong sense of purpose in helping the LXRP team deliver on transforming the way Victorians live, work and travel.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role, leading and providing guidance on major project environmental issues on civil construction projects. You will be confident in your experience conducting on-site environmental compliance checks within project delivery teams.

We are also looking for someone who doesn't shy away from collaboration. Strong stakeholder management skills are a must as you will be responsible for liaising with a range of internal teams and external alliance partners. Proven experience working autonomously in a fast-paced major project environment will also be advantageous.

Let's get technical! What will we expect from you?

  • Sound knowledge of the preparation, implementation and evaluation of ISO/AS 14001 Environmental Management Systems is a must.
  • Excellent understanding of the regulatory and legislative aspects of environmental management – knowledge of environmental compliance obligations and reporting processes is essential to the role.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in environmental management/science or a similar discipline is beneficial to the role but not mandatory. A qualification in auditing is highly desirable.
