Erosion Modeller


We are looking for an enthusiastic Erosion Modeller to undertake research, consultancy and research support in understanding and modelling erosion processes and sediment transport.

About the opportunity

The position is part of the Soils and Landscapes team within Manaaki Whenua. The team comprises almost 30 staff, at three sites across New Zealand. We lead research on understanding the complex inter-relationships that control the response of soils and landscapes to climatic and human-induced pressures, evaluating current risk, offering sustainable land use and natural resource allocation options.

The position is open term, full-time (37.5 hours per week) and preferably based at our Palmerston North site.

About you

You will possess a PhD in Geomorphology or in a related discipline with an emphasis on erosion processes and sediment transport, ideally with at least three years post-PhD experience, and will have some refereed publications, including as lead author. Ideally you will be a flexible, pragmatic, self-starter, capable of independently and effectively planning your time and resources.
