About the role

The School of Life Sciences is one of two large schools within the Faculty of Science at University of Technology Sydney. The Environmental Sciences Discipline represents a vibrant and active strength within the School, supporting scientific experts in plant and animal ecology, bushfire science, marine and freshwater ecosystems, sustainable technologies for urban cities, and contamination remediation.

The School is currently looking to recruit a passionate and engaging communicator with a strong interest in improving learner experience and supporting the diversity of our students. The role will be on a part time basis, 0.5 FTE and will see you take a leading role in the delivery of the highly popular and successful short course program CSARM: Contaminated Site Assessment, Remediation and Management. These short courses have evolved over a decade and meet significant and critical skills demands identified by industries and government agencies. We have designed and co-run this program with our industry and government partners to ensure it remains highly relevant and future-focused for all learners.

You will be responsible for managing the short course series, as well as organising and networking with experts and partner organisations to continue to grow and strengthen opportunities for learners. The short courses are designed to be agile and engaging online experiences and teach a range of specialist knowledge and skills relevant for land and water contamination assessment, site management, and remediation practices across Australia.

About you

To be considered for this role you will have:

• A PhD in a field relevant to the position (e.g. environmental science, ecology, contamination, etc.)
• the ability to lead the existing CSARM short course program, while having a vision for potential developments and new microcredential offerings in the future.
• the ability to maintain and create new partnerships in industry and government organisations.
• a capacity to accomplish high levels of teaching performance.
• a commitment to dynamic and interactive online learning.
• demonstrated ability to manage concurrently a range of academic responsibilities, such as student records, budgets, and the ethical and OHS aspects of teaching and research.
• strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, external partners, staff and with other members of the University.
• strong interest in improving learner experience and supporting the diversity of our students.
• ability and willingness to contribute cooperatively to the academic life of the School and its students.

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $ 108,203 to $ 128,064 pa (Level B)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a fixed termbasis for 3 years.
