What you’ll do: 

  • Support the development and maintenance of portfolio risk profiles and risk management plans & periodically assess & report on dam safety compliance and monitor risk profiles in accordance with the Dam Safety Management Systems (DSMS)
  • Plan for and manage dam safety issues, alarm responses, and emergencies, together with other subject matter experts, as may be required from time to time, & actively participate in emergency preparedness
  • Evaluate the safety status and performance of dams, monitor existing risks; identify new and emerging risks; initiate in-depth evaluation of dam safety risks arising from surveillance activities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of technical guidelines and methodologies in the dam safety program 
  • Support the implementation of the DSMS to ensure that statutory dam safety requirements are appropriately met in a timely manner

What we are looking for:  

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline, with eligibility for membership of Engineers Australia 
  • 5+ years of experience in dams engineering, with proven technical engineering skill and knowledge of dam safety policy and regulatory requirements combined with site experience 
  • Experience in the safety evaluation and visual inspection of existing dams, & experience in dam design, construction, operation and maintenance 
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant Australian and International codes and standards and extensive knowledge of principles and practices of dam and weir design, construction, operation, safety surveillance and maintenance 
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to analyse and interpret data and make sound judgements
