The Institute operates from facilities in Townsville Queensland, Darwin Northern Territory and Perth Western Australia.

About this Opportunity

As a mid-career researcher, you will be a recognised expert in demersal fish ecology research and have advanced ecological and quantitative skills in the analysis and interpretation of fish diversity data.

In this position you will have a high level of autonomy to design your own research portfolio and lead the statistical analyses on fish and invertebrate community compositions, in collaboration with AIMS' science teams.

You will plan and lead major field work campaigns and coordinate BRUVs related research efforts across the Institute.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a world leading organisation with attractive working conditions including a 9-day fortnight, generous leave entitlements, transportation to site (Townsville only), a salary range of $99,609 - $109,198 and 15.4% superannuation. This role is being offered for a 3 year term and will be based in Townsville, Queensland or Perth, Western Australia.

About You

You will have advanced skills and experience in the identification of marine tropical vertebrates and combined with a PhD, be able to demonstrate:

• Significant field work experience conducting surveys of tropical fish and benthic communities;
• Strong quantitative skills in the analysis of ecological data;
• High level of academic achievement relevant to opportunity; and
• High level of skills in the development of research funding proposals.
