An opportunity is available for an experienced Project Coordinator to work on the Wild Deserts project in western New South Wales in partnership with the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, Ecological Horizons and Taronga Conservation Society

About the role

  • $79K-$94K plus (17% superannuation, leave loading and remote area allowance)
  • Fixed Term until September 1, 2021
  • Full-time
  • Based at Wild Deserts Fort Grey homestead

The Project Coordinator – Wild Deserts will work on a project to reintroduce locally extinct mammals into western NSW, as part of the Wild Deserts Project, within an ecosystem management framework.

The project brings together a multidisciplinary team from UNSW Centre for Ecosystem Science (including Fowlers Gap), Ecological Horizons and Taronga Conservation Society to introduce locally extinct mammals into part of Sturt National Park.

The position is to eventually be based at Wild Deserts Fort Grey homestead in Sturt National Park, although there will be an establishment phase of about a year, with the position possibly based in Sydney, Dubbo or Broken Hill.

About the successful applicant

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary degree or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of education, training and/or experience, relevant to the project
  • Demonstrated project management and coordination experience, including liaison with stakeholders
  • Experience and/or capacity to live in arid and/or isolated environments for extended periods.
