The position

As the lead member of the HR team you will need to be highly motivated, self-aware and have a positive attitude. Requiring hands on HR generalist skills, this role will require you to provide advice and translate strategy into action. You will coordinate and oversee the HR team’s delivery to management and staff of the full spectrum of HR customer focussed services. You will also ensure that Council’s HR framework complies with legislative and award obligations and meets current and future workplace needs.

Qualifications and experience 

You will require a degree in human resource management with 2-3 years’ practical experience across the majority of HR functions (e.g. change management, organisational development, industrial relations, learning and development, workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, WHS, workers’ compensation, payroll). You must exercise sound judgement, discretion, confidentiality and initiative, plus demonstrate high level interpersonal skills including analytical and problem solving. Verbal and written communication skills are also essential. Previous experience in local government or the public sector would be an advantage.

Conditions of employment

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government State Award 2014. Salary range up to $90,400 per annum (based on skills and experience), plus 9.5% statutory superannuation. Other generous benefits include a nine-day (70 hour) fortnight, commitment to learning and development and a supportive team environment.  A satisfactory health assessment, including drug screening is a pre-requisite to an offer of employment.
