Western is seeking to appoint a Research Theme Fellow with a focus on Environment & Sustainability. This is a prestigious 4-year position with an opportunity to negotiate an ongoing position after completion of the third year of the Fellowship based on exceptional performance. The Fellowship includes a maximum of 30% teaching, and the comes with start-up funding to kickstart your research at WSU. The Research Theme Fellow (Environment & Sustainability) will be an integral part of Western’s Research Theme Program. This multi-disciplinary program breaks down the silos of traditional academic disciplines to support solutions for the complex issues societies, environments, and economies face today. As the successful applicant, you will have freedom and support to develop your own research program. You will be encouraged to attain research excellence, expand your high-quality research program and foster links to industry and community. In return, we expect that you win competitive research income, publish your research nationally and internationally, and support our early and mid-career researchers, encouraging cross-disciplinary approaches to the research. In addition, you will be tasked to work collaboratively with the other Research Theme Champions to provide programs and opportunities that connect our academics with industry and government.

You must hold a research doctoral degree (equivalent to an Australian PhD degree). Preference will be given to external applicants and applicants who have joined Western Sydney University within approximately two years of the closing date for applications. You are expected to commence the appointment by 1st February 2023 and undertake research in Institutes, Schools or Strategic Research Initiatives as appropriate for a period of up to four years.

Remuneration Package: Academic Level C – Remuneration Package: $155,383 to $178,242 p.a. (including salary $131,433 to $150,971 p.a., plus 17% Superannuation, plus Leave Loading).
