CSIRO Environment integrates our main environmental research capability to strengthen our ability to address the complex and interrelated environmental issues facing Australia.
The Environmental Management Group at CSIRO work on a range of projects across Northern Australia, providing capability that is core to an existing portfolio of work representing more than ten million dollars in external revenue. Many of the existing projects are large, transdisciplinary, and multi-institutional projects. The recently announced Nature Positive Plan for Australia, and increased investment in the renewable energy sector in Queensland, will require input from environmental and resource economists to support decision-making about regional development, agricultural and water infrastructure, land use conservation and land use optimization.
As an Applied Northern Australia Regional Development Economist in this role, you’ll provide economic advice on a range of projects related to regional development options and trade-offs, natural capital accounting and cost-benefit analysis, with a focus on Northern Australia. This role will provide an opportunity to work in multidisciplinary teams, utilising cutting-edge technologies, to help solve some of Australia’s greatest challenges. Salary: AU121k – AU142k plus up to 15.4% superannuation
