Research Technician

As the Research Technician, you will support and deliver to two main project areas – illegal fishing and plastics pollution. At a project, level, you will focus on an Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated fishing project on updating a previous assessment across the ASEAN region, and secondarily to a global plastics baseline project. 

Your duties will include

  • Work with a multitude of stakeholders in a variety of environments.
  • Manage time effectively with multiple demands across a number of projects.
  • Work with numerous research science staff internationally, as well as other technical staff, students, and collaborators (domestic and international).
  • Organise, edit, and coordinate, on several marine debris and Illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing related projects. 

Location:       Hobart, Tasmania
Tenure:          Part-Time (0.6) - Specified term of 18 months
Salary:           AU$82K – AU$93K (pro rata) + up to 15.4% superannuation

To be successful you will need 

Under CSIRO policy only those who meet all selection criteria can be appointed.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or relevant work experience in science.
  • Proficiency in MS office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent written, organisational, interpersonal skills and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in leadership or executive support roles for large team projects or programs.
  • Demonstrated excellence in judgement, problem-solving and adaptability.
