About the Organisation

Southern Gulf NRM (SG NRM) is a community-based organisation tasked with strategic and sustainable Natural Resource Management (NRM) planning and implementation in the southern Gulf of Carpentaria region of northwest Queensland. Established in 1996, the organisation has the aims of protecting and restoring biodiversity values, arresting land degradation, improving water quality and facilitating coastal and marine management.

The region has an area of 215,000 square kilometres and comprises the catchments of the Flinders-Cloncurry, Leichhardt and Gregory-Nicholson Rivers, Settlement Creek and Morning Inlet, plus the Wellesley Islands group.

The organisation is funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments and assists the community in the delivery of NRM activities ranging from weed control, riparian protection, biodiversity conservation and improved grazing management to fire management, coastal protection and building NRM capacity across communities.

About the Opportunity

SG NRM is now looking for a driven CEO to lead their team of dedicated professionals, based in Mount Isa, Queensland. You'll initially join the organisation on a three month probationary period, followed by offer of a 2 year contract for a full time position with further extension dependent on performance and ongoing funding.

Reporting to the Chair - Board of Directors, and supported by an experienced team of specialists, this critical role will see you provide strong strategic and operational leadership and management to ensure that there is effective delivery of NRM programs and projects on behalf of SG NRM. Developing partnerships and relationships within the region and relevant stakeholders, you will support SG NRM's vision and objectives to secure the long term growth and stability of the organisation.
