This is a highly unique & specialised position to provide specialised technical, consulting and manufacturing services to staff & students of JCU.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory and Technical Support Advisor, within the Division of Tropical Environments and Societies at James Cook University (JCU). A two year fixed-term appointment, this role is based at the Townsville campus in picturesque tropical North Queensland.
Our Division
The Division of Tropical Environments and Societies recognises the grand challenges facing the world today and the particular role that will be played out in the tropics through the Arts. Our programs produce graduates who make a difference and our research focuses on issues of relevance to tropical environments and societies.
Your role
As an accomplished professional in your field, or you might be a recent graduate looking to establish a career within the University, you will supervise and maintain the concrete, soils and rock testing teaching and research laboratories for the Division, ensuring safe use of equipment, safety compliance and excellence in technical assistance.
The Laboratory and Technical Support advisor is responsible for coordinating the concrete, soils and rock testing, repairs, servicing and maintenance of specialized equipment and ensuring the laboratory is functional, with appropriate safety signage. You will also provide assistance and advice on experimental procedures for postgraduate research projects as well as designing, manufacturing and modifying specialised laboratory equipment and components.
