About the opportunity

Maribyrnong City Council is undergoing significant change in population growth, redevelopment, and a transitioning economy is leading to an influx of new residents, businesses and opportunities. An exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced Environmental Engineer/Scientist is currently available in our Environmental Management Section.

Reporting to the Manager Strategic Asset Management, this is a key leadership role involving the development and implementation of strategic Policies, Plans and Guidelines with respect to Climate Change, Bio Diversity, Resources Recovery and Re-Use.

The successful incumbent will also be involved in the coordination of a professional environmental team engaged in the assessment and risk mitigation of Council's environmental impacts and aspects, including advocating for a sustainable and healthy outcome for the community, residents and visitors.

About you

You will need tertiary qualifications in Environmental Sciences or equivalent, and substantial experience in environmental management systems, policies, strategies, along with strong contract and project management skills. Experience in a local government environment will be well regarded.
