Environmental Health Officer

Cairns Regional Council is currently seeking an Environmental Health Officer to join our Planning & Environment Department. 

Salary Range: $67,117 to $76,258 per annum
Location: Council Chambers, Spence Street, Cairns.
Closing: Monday, 8 May 2017

Primary Objectives of the position:

  • To assess and/or coordinate assessment of applications made under Food Act 2006, Public Health Act 2005, Public Health (Infection Control for Personal Appearance Services) Act 2003 to a high performance standard.
  • To assess and / or coordinate assessment of applications made under Council’s local laws and other relevant legislation to recommend outcomes to a high performance standard

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental health related discipline and have related experience in regulatory inspections and compliance.
  • Current open car driver’s licence including manual vehicles.
  • Knowledge of the Food Act 2006, Health Act 2005, Public Health (Infection Control for Personal Appearance Services) Act 2003, Environmental Protection Act 1994 and relevant legislation and their relationship to other legislations.
