Job Description

As Climate Action Lead, you will help lead the City of Stonnington into a climate-ready future.

You will champion and drive climate emergency response throughout Council through partnerships, education and engagement. This will include developing and delivering a staff climate education program and developing tailored climate action plans for each division.

You will also play a key role in supporting the Stonnington community to reduce emissions and prepare for a changing climate through working in collaboration with community groups and service providers to build their capacity and mobilise their communities.

This is an exciting new position within Council and will play a vital role in creating a more sustainable Stonnington.

Desired Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of climate change policy and programs at local, state and federal government levels, including an awareness of what a climate emergency means in a local government context. We are seeking someone with experience in designing and delivering environmental initiatives within large, complex organisations and across diverse communities.

You will have an excellent ability to develop relationships and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders along with strong project management skills. Also, a tertiary qualification in environmental management or science, sustainability or other related discipline and/or extensive practical experience together with relevant experience.
