Education Officer - Resource Recovery 

Are you excited by driving change, engaging with people and solving problems?  We are looking for a competent and dedicated Education Officer to join our Resource Recovery and Education Unit. In this role you will assist in developing and implementing programs to raise community awareness of the impact of waste in landfill and to increase diversion of waste from landfill.

Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing education programs and materials to support the service, organise bin audits, evaluate data and reports to determine contamination trends, identify education needs, develop and implement appropriate behaviour change strategies and programs and manage the organics exemption program.

This will extend to undertaking education sessions in schools and community groups on correct sorting and disposal of waste, waste minimisation and resource recovery and the impact of waste on the environment. You will also be required to general enquires around organics, recycling and general waste.

You will be an energetic self-starter, pro-active, show initiative and communicate effectively with members of the public and other employees including excellent presentation skills.

The ideal candidate will have relevant qualification/s in Environmental Science or equivalent and experience in the area of community engagement, along with demonstrated project management experience.
