Operations Manager - Bendigo & Castlemaine WRP

Ready to work on a once-in-a-generation infrastructure project?

We’ve got big plans on the drawing board at Coliban Water over the next five years, and we’re looking for the right technical expertise to help us deliver them

Our $435 million Big Water Build capital works program now presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager keen to put their skills and industry experience to work on once-in-a-generation wastewater infrastructure projects.

These projects are critical for our community. For the successful candidate, they’ll also be career defining, delivering new opportunities for development and a significant career stepping stone.

About the role

As Operations Manager for our Bendigo and Castlemaine Water Reclamation Plants, you’ll help ensure the delivery of a significant program of upgrades and renewals is done seamlessly and with minimal impact to ongoing plant operations. Working side-by-side with the Program Director, you’ll also be accountable for ensuring our plants meet all safety, environmental and quality requirements.

No two days will be the same in this diverse and challenging role. You’ll be responsible for:

  • Providing technical advice, interpretation and guidance for internal and external stakeholders on wastewater treatment and reuse operations.
  • Building constructive relationships across the Coliban Water team and with industry partners, consultants, contractors and other agencies.
  • Fostering an environment in which the Water Reclamation Plant Operations Team can apply good judgement, challenge the status quo, and make proactive and timely decisions.
  • Applying proactive risk-based asset management practices across all areas of the asset lifecycle.
  • Performing incident and emergency management duties as an Incident Controller, Functional Area Coordinator, or other roles as required during and outside of regular business hours.

It goes without saying you’ll have specialist knowledge and experience in the management of wastewater systems, recycled water and treatment plants, plus proven ability to lead, develop and challenge work teams to achieve objectives, budgets and deadlines. The successful candidate will also have a tertiary qualification in engineering, science or other related discipline.

Sound like you? If you’re ready to make your mark in a wastewater treatment operations role with an organisation committed to improving how it treats, reclaims and reuses the by-products of our water use for the next 50 years, we’d love to hear from you.
