The Opportunity
Are you drawn to the sea? Can’t get enough of waves? Love to know if the rapidly changing wind and wave dynamics will affect climate or how the waves, winds, currents and ice interact to affect the atmosphere, weather and climate? Then this is your dream role!

Oceanography and Ocean Engineering is our niche. It’s not just about waves, ocean turbulence or even climate, it’s our passion and lifelong work and we want you to join our dedicated team who are recognised as the leading researchers and world experts on wave-air interactions.

The Projects
We are now recruiting for numerical modelling research of wave-ocean-atmosphere coupled processes in various environments including the Artic/Antarctic Marginal Ice Zones (MIZ) and the Extreme Tropical/Extra-Tropical Cyclones.

These are not your average projects, they are a challenging and synergetic mix at the cutting edge of Metocean discipline, which makes this a truly unique opportunity for postdoctoral researchers.

What we’re looking for
You will have a PhD in physical oceanography, ocean/coastal engineering, applied mathematics and a track record in research of ocean waves.

What you need
• A PhD in a relevant discipline
• Track record of quality research as evidence in publications in leading conferences and journals
• Experience using Matlab, FORTRAN and other modelling programs
• Experience in Metocean data analysis and modelling will be highly regarded

What you’ll be doing
• Actively participate in MSE research activities
• Undertake original and unique research
• Report and present on the outcomes of your work
• Producing written material suitable for publication in scholarly journals
• Conduct independent research track and to coordinate research projects

You are expected to know FORTRAN and if you have experience in WAVEWATCH-III, and ROMS or MOM circulation models this will be highly regarded.
