The School of Public Health, as one of eight schools within Sydney Medical School, it is a vibrant organic network of individuals, research groups and centres that offer a wide range of educational and research opportunities for students. The school is currently seeking to appoint a highly motivated Associate Professor (Level D) or Professor (Level E) to make a significant contribution to our research and teaching programs in environmental health. This is a stimulating position and is responsible for the development and leadership of the school’s expanding initiative in environmental health.

In this position you will:

  • Develop and teach environmental health units as well as a possible degree program in environmental health.
  • Lead the coordination and curriculum development in such units and programs.
  • Develop and lead a research program in environmental health, including grant acquisitions, presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Develop and lead multidisciplinary collaborative research projects in environmental health at both the national and international level.
  • Engage with relevant, major University of Sydney cross-disciplinary initiatives.

We encourage applications from candidates with expertise, and a strong research track record, in areas related to environmental health. A PhD in a field relevant to environmental health is essential.

You will be a world-leading researcher who demonstrates a willingness to provide significant leadership in the School of Public Health; to develop and lead multidisciplinary collaborative research programs at both the national and international level; to lead coordination, curriculum development and teaching in an environmental health program; and to undertake consultancy or contract work.

Term

The position is fixed-term for five years on a full-time basis, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. A salary package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position will be negotiated.
