Open Spaces Coordinator

As a proactive leader you will be required to:

  • Coordinate the  management of Council’s various open spaces and ancillary assets (e.g. gardens, playgrounds, paths, irrigation systems, park furniture, BBQ facilities etc.) to ensure that they are functional, safe and well-presented such that they instil a sense of pride in the local community and create a positive experience for visitors.
  • Ensure there is a  planned approach and that inspection and maintenance programs and works  are undertaken in accordancewith relevant legislation, asset management/maintenance plans and agreed service standards.
  • Manage contractors engaged to undertake works and/or services, including noxious weed control  and cleaning of toilet and BBQ facilities.
  • Provide advice to  inform the work of other departments during the development and implementation of master plans, projects, policies and strategies.

The successful applicant will have…

  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
  • Qualifications in horticulture, arboriculture or environmental management with some relevant  experience, or lesser formal qualifications with substantial relevant experience.
  • First aid Certificate  – Level 2.
  • Experience in Local  Government advantageous.
  • Extensive experience  in horticulture, arboriculture, turf and weed management practices would  be an advantage.
  • Experience in the use of the Microsoft Office suite and other local government business applications.
