The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Officer, Animal Reproduction to be part of our South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) Division within PIRSA. The role reports to the Livestock Innovation and Welfare Research Scientist.

The Senior Research Officer (Animal Reproduction) conducts research within the Livestock Innovation and Welfare (LIW) Science Program at the Turretfield Research Centre. The LIW Science Program aims to improve livestock production and welfare, with a focus on reproduction, utilizing cutting edge techniques in assisted reproduction technology (ART). The LIW team provides specialist services and innovative research capabilities in reproduction for sheep and cattle to enhance genetic improvement programs.

The Senior Research Officer is responsible for providing high level research support to the Livestock Innovation and Welfare Group and will contribute to SARDI’s role of leading and conducting innovative research in ART which will benefit the Livestock industries through increased production efficiency/capacity.

Special Conditions

This is a contract / term vacancy up to 36 months. Some intra-state and occasional interstate travel, including absence overnight, will be required. A current “car” driver’s licence and willingness to drive is essential. The position is located at Turretfield Research Centre, Rosedale, South Australia, 5350. Out of hours’ work may be required.

Requirements

An appropriate tertiary degree in Animal Science with Animal Reproduction or equivalent is required. A postgraduate qualification in Animal Reproduction is desirable.
