The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for two enthusiastic, solutions focused and innovative Research Officers, Grains Entomology to be part of our South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) Division within PIRSA. The role reports to the Principal Scientist, Entomology.

The Research Officer, Grains Entomology is responsible for providing assistance with the delivery of the grain pest diagnostic and advice service, including the processing, curation and data-storage of identified pest samples, investigating unusual grain pest occurrences, developing pest management research and extension skills by contributing to major grains IPM projects and assisting in the delivery of invertebrate pest and beneficial diagnostic training workshops for agronomists and growers.

Special Conditions

This is a part time contract / term vacancy up to 31/07/2020 working 18.75 hours per week. 2 positions are available. Possession of a current driver’s licence and a willingness to drive is required. Out of hours work may be required (field work, etc). Occasional use and handling of pesticides according to Australian Chemcert standards will be required.

Requirements
A degree in Agricultural or Biological Science ideally in entomology or agronomy is required.
