Health, Safety & Wellbeing Lead

  • VPSG 6.1 - $113,156 - $151,426 p.a plus 9.5% superannuation

About the role 

The Health, Safety and Wellbeing (OHS) Lead works closely with business units to identify and translate OH&S business goals into prioritised Human Resources requirements.

The role provides both strategic direction in the areas of Health, safety and wellbeing and hands on operational execution of tasks, initiatives and duties associated with these areas.

The role reports to the Manager People & Culture and works in partnership with Directorate leaders, and People & Culture team colleagues to secure alignment between health, safety and wellbeing and the EPA Organisational strategy.  This is achieved by identifying and resolving OH&S risks,  operational safety and wellbeing issues and developing and leading the implementation of a Health, Safety & Wellbeing strategy including the maintenance of a safety first culture.

What you need to succeed

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Return to Work and injury management and Training/Assessment and/or relevant experience in a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing and developing OHS policy, systems and procedures
  • Working knowledge of OHS regulatory practice and techniques for achieving compliance through the use of regulatory and non-regulatory approaches
  • Experience in government or the public sector (desirable)
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage systems, processes, budgets and resources to achieve OHS targets and desired outcomes
  • Strong written and verbal communication and negotiation skills with the ability to use formal and informal channels to engage stakeholders and manage consultation processes
