Unit Overview

The Regulatory Practice & Strategy directorate consists of the following units:  Environmental Audit, Regulatory Programs, Operations Capability, Operations Strategy, and Strategic Partnerships. 

The purpose of the directorate is to:

  • manage a range of statutory programs that provide important protections for the community
  • build and maintain capability for the organisation in sophisticated regulatory approaches that are needed to set a new standard in regulation. 

Role Overview
The Program Lead Local Government Pilot is responsible for designing, leading, and implementing complex programs/projects in the Regulatory Practice and Strategy Directorate (RPS) as part of the reform program and delivering significant reforms in a way that improves EPA’s effectiveness of our regulatory activities, improves experience people have of EPA and improves confidence in EPA as the environmental regulator. The Program Lead is responsible for leading delivery of the Local Government Environment Protection Officer Pilot program committed to by Government in response to the independent Inquiry into EPA.
