What will you do?

In this position you will join our Hydrology and Hydraulics team in NSW, as part of our ANZ Water group. An integral technical lead role amongst a team of highly skilled specialists ‘bringing ideas to life’ for our clients across all types of infrastructure projects. Recent examples include flooding and drainage assessments for the Rankin Park to Jesmond Inner City Bypass, Parramatta Light Rail and Western Sydney Airport; as well as Dam Break and Water Balance studies for Hunter Valley Power Stations and Mines.

Our NSW Flooding team – with staff in Newcastle and Sydney - is well established and delivers positive outcomes on challenging projects which are predominantly transport focussed, with growing demand in water and energy. The team collaborates across ANZ including other flooding teams, drainage teams and water resources advisory teams. A Practice Leader drives the Waterways, Flooding and Drainage community in Aurecon globally.

The aim of this role is to provide an enhanced focus on delivery excellence for high profile infrastructure projects across NSW. The role will include hands on delivery. The right candidate will also provide mentoring and leadership for the further growth of our eminent, innovative and digital NSW flooding team.

We know the work we do is vital in assisting our world’s economic development and, it’s the technical expertise and the depth of knowledge of our people that really sets us apart. Here are the key things you will need to have in order to ‘bring ideas to life’.

  • Leading technical expertise in hydrology and hydraulics and a passion to develop it in others.
  • Capability to lead the delivery of flood modelling, and other hydrology and hydraulics assessments including on major transport projects.
  • Proven performance or aptitude in:
    • managing a team of professionals
    • collaboration with other teams and disciplines
    • developing delivery improvements and knowledge sharing
    • managing scope, schedule, cost and quality on projects
    • liaising with internal and external clients
    • contributing to opportunity pursuits and proposals
  • Good knowledge of and ability to use relevant software including:
    • 1D & 2D flood modelling software - MIKE FLOOD, MIKE 21, MIKE 11, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS
    • Hydrologic modelling software - RAFTS, RORB, URBS
    • Urban drainage software- MIKE URBAN, DRAINS
    • GIS, AutoCAD & 12D
    • MUSIC
    • Water Balance modelling software - Goldsim
