Council is seeking an enthusiastic and qualified Civil Engineer to join its Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Planning team.

About the Role:

As the Engineer - Networks you will provide specialist input to the development of water and sewerage growth related infrastructure investment programs. Supporting the Engineer – Planning and Systems this position will undertake a range of hydraulic investigations, developing strategies and actions to accommodate current and future network demands.

This position will also provide advice on operational matters regarding the resolution of network pressure and flow issues, advising on the capacity of Council’s systems through hydraulic modelling and the interpretation of test results and telemetry data.

A key function of this role will be the technical management of computer hydraulic models. The position will develop, maintain and operate water distribution and sewerage models to facilitate network investigations.

We are seeking:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) eligible for professional engineer membership of IE Aust.
  • Competence in computer hydraulic modelling of water distribution and sewerage networks, including model build, calibration and application.
  • Developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills , including proven ability to produce technical reports, liaise with key stakeholders and give presentations.
  • Civil engineering experience, particularly relating to water supply and sewerage networks, including design, construction, operation and maintenance activities.
  • Well-developed research, analysis, creative problem solving and program implementation skills.
  • Understanding of Geographical Information Systems (GIS), their use in an infrastructure engineering environment and in a hydraulic modelling context.
  • Current Vehicle Licence – Car.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Tweed Heads, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
